President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration is making a conscious effort to address all security challenges that seem to threaten the country from all directions. The president made this statement through his vice president, Kashim Shettima, while attending a closing ceremony of the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) and its 160 Anniversary of Nigerian Army yesterday in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The Nigerian leader assures the gathering of his government resolve to squarely address all forms of threat, criminality and take care of the National Security challenges that seem unabated in a shortest possible time.
He disclosed that he will continue to exploit all avenues that are constitutionally possible to ensure that all law abiding citizen enjoys being a Nigerian citizen again by guaranteeing their safety in all endeavour.
In his statement, “I assure the Nigerian Army and the entire Armed Forces of my commitment to their welfare, and I will address the issue of equipment, insufficient funding and other factors constraining their efficient operation”.
He assured the forces that his government has put a mechanism in place that will address all armed forces challenges so that their discharging of duties will be more surmountable.
While calling on all Nigerians to reinvigorate their patriotism as citizen of the federal republic, the president commended the Armed forces and their sister agencies for keeping the country united despite challenges.
Earlier in his address, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, had said the Nigerian Army was living up to its constitutional role. (NAN).
