Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, stated that he has directed the state’s Attorney-General to withdraw the suit filed against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the freezing of the state government’s statutory allocation account.

He made this known on Sunday during a TV interview after he was declared winner of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

According to him, “What else do I want? I’ve instructed my Attorney General to drop it. Mr President has done well; he called me. What more do I want?”

Recall that the EFCC froze the account days to the governorship election, alleging that some fraudulent transactions occurred.

This development caused backlash, with some claiming it was a move designed to frustrate the re-election campaign of Adeleke, and in response, the government of Osun State sued the commission for N2 billion.

However, President Tinubu intervened and immediately ordered the Commission to unfreeze the affected bank accounts.
