The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has launched an online portal, VitalReg, which allows Nigerians to apply for birth and death certificates, birth attestation, amongst others.
This was made known by the National Population Commission (NPC), stating that the platform was created to digitise civil registration services across the country.
The Commission stated that birth registration provides citizens access to healthcare, education, international passports and other benefits, adding that birth registration for children below five years is free at all NPC registration centres, but a N5,000 fee is required for online self-service birth registration, while death registration remains free.
Nigerians can apply via https://nationalpopulation.gov.ng/ or visit any NPC registration centre nationwide.
