According to the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (DG-NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, youth Corps members would soon receive 30, 000 monthly allowances expected in September 2019 once-monthly allowance would be increased as soon as the Federal Government starts the payment of the new minimum wage to all public servants nationwide.
It was gathered in a statement signed by Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Adenike Adeyemi, who gave the assurance on Monday, 2nd August 2019 while interacting with Corps Members during his working visit to Iyana-Ipaja Orientation Camp, Lagos State.
He added that efforts were on top gear at all levels to ensure adequate welfare for all Corps Members in the country.
However, Adeyemi advised the Corps members not to embark on unauthorized journeys that may endanger their lives and that, such journey if reported, would attract serious sanctions from the NYSC.
More so, he reiterated that violators of NYSC bye-laws would be dealt with in line with NYSC rules and regulations.
in his words “Don’t debase yourselves, study the bye-law including the NYSC Act and be law-abiding.
Don’t participate in politics, avoid religious and tribal differences”, he emphasized.
He then called on the youth corps members to imbibe good morals and serve as responsible role models in their host communities.
He warned them to desist from rumour peddling through abusing the use of Social Media but rather serve as agents of change, national unity and development.
