Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), has postponed his intention to set up a marriage for Chiemeka Chibuzor, his 21-year-old adopted daughter with autism, after receiving an excessive number of proposals. In a Facebook post, the cleric made the announcement that the planned wedding had been postponed due to the over 1,000 applications. He did not provide precise explanations for the abrupt halt, but he did add that more instructions would be sent later. Just two days have passed since Chinyere made his goal to find his daughter a suitable spouse public, a move that immediately attracted a lot of attention and a flood of applications.
The preacher had outlined stringent requirements for potential suitors in his first statement. He made it clear that only young males who are intellectually and physically strong would be taken into consideration, specifically excluding the elderly and people with impairments.
Chinyere has also planned a comprehensive assistance package to support the marriage. This includes lifetime financial assistance, a home to be constructed in the couple's names, and sporadic surprise visits by OPM representatives to keep an eye on his daughter's safety and well-being.
He clarified that the plan was made to guarantee Chiemeka will be well-cared for, safe, and able to lead a happy life. He added that despite having autism characteristics, she can hear and communicate clearly.
Online discussions had been triggered by the announcement, especially considering the size of the incentives associated with the marriage proposal.
The stalled plan comes soon after another marriage that the pastor helped to arrange. Another autistic person in his care, Aboy Chibuzor, married a single mother of three from Edo State in March under his supervision. The pastor's most recent decision seems to put a halt to what had swiftly gained widespread attention, even though no date for a potential restart of the arrangement has been provided.
