Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia has expressed confidence in the enduring global relevance of Afrobeats, dismissing concerns that the genre may be nearing decline on the international stage. Speaking during a recent interview with Yaw on Wazobia FM Lagos, the “African Queen” crooner maintained that Afrobeats remains firmly positioned for sustained success despite pessimistic projections.
He attributed the genre’s longevity to the continuous emergence of young talents, describing them as central to its growth and evolution.
“Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists now, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands.
“Recently, one of the young artists, Fola, remade my song ‘If Love Is A Crime.’ I really loved it. Soft, smooth vocals. It is amazing. The present crops of artists have special flows. I love their styles.”
