Rivers Sole Administrator Vice-Admiral Ibok Ibas has approved the appointments of Administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas in the State. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibibia Worika, adding that the appointment is effective from April 7th.
Ibas also approved the reconstitution of some of the suspended Boards of agencies, Commissions and Parastatals.
The statement read: “His Excellency The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, has approved the appointments of Administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.”
“He has also approved the reconstitution of some Boards of Agencies, Commissions, and Parastatals, earlier suspended. All appointments take effect from Monday, the 7th of April 2025”.
A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has earlier blocked Rivers Sole Administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) from appointing administrators for the state’s 23 local government areas (LGAs). Justice Adamu Turaki Muhammed issued the order on 8 April 2025 in Suit No. FHC/PH/CS/46/2025.
The ruling followed a case filed by PILEX Centre for Civic Education Initiative, led by Courage Nsirimovu. On 28 March 2025, they sought an interim injunction to stop Ibas or his agents from naming sole administrators. Justice Muhammed found merit in their pleas and set 14 April 2025 for a full hearing.
