Former President, Muhammadu Buhari has called on governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be more concern on style of leadership that prioritize people welfare rather than government oriented project that will only serve political leaders. Buhari was speaking during a meeting with the Progressive Governors Forum in Kaduna, describing leadership as both a challenge and an opportunity, while urging the governors to strike a balance for national progress.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari applauded the performance of the APC governors and encouraged them to remain focus and committed to Nigeria’s development. He reminded the governors how important integrity is in the public service, noting that he left office in 2023 with the same personal assets he declared before he became president in 2015.
He also thanked President Bola Tinubu’s administration for remembering him by renovating his Kaduna home, noting that while the exterior remains familiar, significant improvements had been made from the interior.
The meeting, was led by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum who is also the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, saying it was part of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. Uzodinma commended Buhari for his enduring influence on the party and for setting a high standard of governance and peaceful power transition.
The governor highlighted key achievements of Buhari’s tenure, including infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and security gains while applauding his continued support for President Tinubu’s administration.
The governors acknowledged Buhari’s role in the formation of the APC and reaffirmed their respect and appreciation for his leadership and legacy.
