Arsenal attacker, Gabriel Martinelli has called on his teammates to ‘prepare for the worst’ ahead of their return to UEFA champions League these season. Arsenal closed on the second position on the table at the end of the last season English Premier League, EPL, as Manchester City took home the golden trophy. Consequently, Mikel Arteta’s side put an end to its seven years wait for the Champions league football.
The Gunners had perpetually lost out in the Champions league as the last time they featured in the league was 2016-2017 session campaign.
Martinelli said, “I think we [Arsenal players] need to prepare ourselves for the worst, we need to prepare ourselves for the best teams and the whole team is doing that,” Martinelli said as quoted by The Mirror.
“I think we are ready for a new challenge… It is so important [our squad depth] because we have too many games in the season and it’s going to be tough again.
“We are ready to go and it is good to have so many options.”
Gunners next game will be a clash against Manchester United in a club pre-season friendly tie pencilled to hold at Metlife Stadium, New Jersey, on Saturday night 27th, 2023.
