Real Madrid’s FC coach, Zinedine Zidane disclosed that series of criticism thrown at the Madrid players within the last couple of weeks has made the players stronger leading them to win 2-0 La Liga yesterday.
The La Liga defending champions beat Atletico Madrid, their city rival in the 2020/2021 Madrid derby clashes.
Just a few weeks back, Real Madrid has received a backlash from fans after they were suffering defeat from Alaves and Shakhtar Donetsk.
They faced a triple three top fixtures against Savilla, Borussia Moenchengladbach, and Atletico Madrid putting Zidane on the hot seat.
To their advantage, they won all three matches bringing them back to form just like the latter stage of the last season when they won the title.
Real Madrid has now bounced back to third in the table, just three points behind league leaders, Atletico Madrid, though having played a game more.
Zidane while talking to a news conference after his side beat their neighbors with a Casimiro header and an own goal from Jan Oblack, he said, “We have been hurt by some of the things that have been said. But they have made us stronger,”
He explained “Criticism is part of football and you have to learn how to cope with it.
“But the most important thing is that we believe in what we are doing. And today we proved that Real Madrid knows how to play.”
The coach was excited where he applauded some of his players like Tony Cruise and Luka Modric, saying the duo was in the same form when they lead the club to UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, he admitted that Real Madrid still requires a lot of adjustment to remain consistent in winning their matches.
He expressed optimism saying “I’m happy with everything we did in the game.
“We pressed them all over the pitch and didn’t let Atletico Madrid into the game. It’s been a great week. I’m so glad for the players because they believed in themselves,”
However, he admitted, “there’s nothing to celebrate because we haven’t won anything yet.”
