Liverpool has surpassed their all-time club record of 63 games unbeaten home league matches after defeating Leicester city 3 - 0 in their 9th game of 2020/21 to extend the unbeaten run at Anfield to 64 games.
The current EPL champion was close to matching Arsenal 49 EPL games unbeaten record last season but suffered a shocking 3-0 loss by relegation battling Watford. The Champions have now set sights on Chelsea‘s 86-game unbeaten home run between March 2004 and October 2008. Their record-breaking run came under the guidance of three different managers and delivered back-to-back titles, beginning in the final weeks of Claudio Ranieri’s reign, Jose Mourinho’s trophy-laden first spell at Stamford Bridge, before ending under the stewardship of Luiz Felipe Scolari over four years later when Xabi Alonso seal the winner for Liverpool in October 2008.
Last season Premier League winners impressive run at Anfield has now stretched over three years and three full seasons, since former striker Christian Benteke scored a brace for Crystal Palace in a 2-1 victory in April 2017. Though Liverpool’s record may be mightily impressive, they still have a long way to match the Premier League record.
