Marca reports that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen to reinforce his forward line with Alvaro Morata misfiring and they are closing in on Roma's Edin Dzeko. Although Morata started well, his recent goal drought has seen Chelsea scour the market with Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch some of the players to be linked. Roma's Edin Dzeko appears to be the chosen option though, with Chelsea ready to offer Michy Batshuayi in exchange for the Bosnian.
Already, Dzeko has 12 goals so far for the Italian side compared to Carroll's two and Crouch's four, while all three are very different players to Morata, as they are more known for their physical presence on the pitch. According to Marca, this could be Conte's plan to make the forward line more physically imposing.
Meanwhile, Eden Hazard has cautioned the club against brining in a new striker this January. Speaking after the 4-0 win over Brighton, the playmaker said Chelsea already had the required strikers.
"We have two very good forwards, Alvaro and Michy, if they are not ready to play I can play as a forward, so I do not think we need another," he said.
