Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has imposed a one-month suspension on 87 government officials, including commissioners, senior special assistants, special assistants, and permanent secretaries, for their absence from a critical state function. The suspension, which takes immediate effect, impacts 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries. During the suspension period, the affected officials are prohibited from signing any official documents.

Commissioners have been directed to hand over responsibilities to their respective permanent secretaries and observe the suspension without pay.

In a statement, the governor’s chief press secretary, Monday Uzor, emphasized that Governor Nwifuru is committed to enforcing discipline and ensuring that all public officials demonstrate the highest level of responsibility and dedication to their duties.
