President Bola Tinubu has announced on Thursday the conferment of national honors to several individuals including the late Kudirat Abiola, who received a posthumous Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) award.


He made this known during his State of the Nation address at a special joint session at the National Assembly, also honored posthumously were Shehu Musa Yar’Adua; Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), the environmental activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa was conferred with Commander of the Niger (CON) his fellow Ogoni Nine, who were all granted presidential pardons and all conferred with Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Other recipients include Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka; Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON), Catholic Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah; (CON) and also human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) was conferred with CON.

Others are Prof. Humphrey Nwosu (CON), Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (CON), Alhaji Balarabe Musa (CFR), Pa Alfred Rewane (CFR) Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti (CON), Chief Bola Ige (CFR), Hon. Labaran Maku (OON), Pa Reuben Fasoranti (CFR), Senator Ayo Fasanmi (CON), Bayo Onanuga (CON), Senator Shehu Sani (CON), Governor Uba Sani (CON), Dr. Tunji Alausa (CON), amongst others.
