The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power outage affecting several states in the North-East region. The interruption is due to ongoing construction work at the new 330kV substation in Bauchi.
According to a statement signed by Engr. J.O. Joseph, TCN’s Regional Operations Manager for the Bauchi Region, said the outage will begin at 10:00 a.m. on June 10 and continue until 5:00 p.m. on June 14, 2025.
The outage is necessary to facilitate the installation of 330kV Turn-In and Turn-Out transmission towers as part of the substation development. Additionally, the project will require the temporary shutdown of the Jos–Bauchi–Gombe 132kV transmission line to allow for safe crossing works.
TCN has urged affected residents and businesses to take necessary precautions and assured that efforts are being made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe.
According to the notice, the outage will affect the Jos-Gombe single circuit (SC) line for five days. This development means that Damaturu, Molai, Yola, and Jalingo will be completely without electricity during the work. Meanwhile, the Gombe and Biu substations will be partially powered through the Dadin Kowa Hydropower Plant, and the Baga Road substation will receive its supply from MEPP.
