Miss Monica Osagie, the victim in the sex-for-marks scandal at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has told an investigative panel that the disgraced Professor Richard Akindele deliberately failed her because she refused his sexual demand.

She said she did not score 33 per cent as the lecturer claimed, but was failed so that she could bow to his sexual demand.

Monica said this today when she appeared before the panel, her lawyer Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi told newsmen.

Osagie had appeared before the committee set up by the institution’s authorities in company of her counsel.

Osagie, a student in the Masters of Business programme, released a recorded telephone conversation, which went viral, in which the lecturer identified as Akindele, demanded five rounds of sex to enhance her marks.

In a leaked telephone conversation, Richard Akindele, a professor in the institution, was heard demanding sex from Osagie, a postgraduate student of business administration.

Akindele solicited sex to award her a pass mark.

After the audio went viral, Eyitope Ogunbodede, OAU vice-chancellor, announced that a panel had been set up.

Emerging reports indicate that suspected herdsmen on Tuesday killed 15 people including two catholic priests in an early morning attack on a Catholic Church in Ayar-Mbalom, a community in Gwer East Local Government Area, Benue State. Terver Akase, a spokesperson to Governor Samuel Ortom, who confirmed the attack, said the attackers also burnt 50 houses and sacked the entire community, before escaping.

A Lagos High Court Sitting in the Ikeja area has ordered a suspended judge at the Federal High Court, Justice Mohammed Yunusa, to face trial for alleged corruption.
