Irked by the challenges of human trafficking and insecurity in Edo State, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has placed a curse on trafficking cartels and criminals in the state. Oba Ewuare II on Friday also broke the oath taken by human traffic victims in the past, adding that they were free to expose the perpetrators behind the crime.

The National Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Mohammed Nuru Abdullahi has condemned the recent killing of some herdsmen in Plateau state. Abdullahi in a statement issued on Thursday described the incident which occurred on Monday as targeted act of terror.

Britain will build a new 112-bed wing at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos so that it can transfer Nigerian prisoners there, foreign secretary, Boris Johnson announced in London today.

In a written statement to parliament, Johnson said tenders had been placed and a supplier identified to conduct the building work at Kirikiri. He did not name the supplier.

The project will be funded from Britain’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund, which has an annual budget of more than 1 billion pounds and aims to commission projects that can help prevent conflicts and stabilise countries or regions.

Gunmen suspected to be sea pirates have attacked a Yenagoa bound commercial boat, shooting two passengers including a pregnant woman in Bayelsa State.

Channels Television gathered on Thursday that the pregnant woman, known as Gulu Leghemo, was shot in the stomach and has been taken to a medical facility in Koluama II community.
