The Governor of Sokoto state, AminuTambuwal, distraught by the senseless inhuman murder of 74 people in the state by bandits has vowed to deal with the psychotic murderers. The residents of Garki, Dan Aduwa, Kuzari and Katuma, all in Sabo Birni Local Government Area of the state suffered an unfortunate ordeal when armed bandits in their hundreds riding motorcycles shot sporadically at the innocent villagers.
Governor Tambuwal while commiserating with the victim's families said the state government is working closely with the federal government and the security agencies in the state to halt this reoccurring unprovoked lamentable attacks.
“Yesterday, I received with rude shock and maximum displeasure the killings of many citizens of SabonBirni by bandits.
“This development is most discomforting considering the fact that myself and the entire security architecture of the state had on Tuesday visited the area and had fruitful discussions with the traditional leaders and other stakeholders on how to nip this unfortunate incidents in the bud.
“Nonetheless, under my watch, no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to book,” he said.
Meanwhile, President on Thursday ordered a "fierce" military operation against bandits in Sokoto state.
“As the world and Nigeria battle coronavirus pandemic, it is tragic and unfortunate that bandits have remained active in parts of the country, killing innocent people and throwing families into despair.
“We will not abandon you to your fate because we are determined to bring these mass murderers to their knees and crush them totally”, a Presidency statement by his media aide, MrGarbaShehu, said on Thursday night.
