President Mohammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Magu as the Ag. Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. And in his absence, Mohammed Umar who is the Head of Operations of the anti-graft agency is to oversee the commission pending the conclusion of the investigation against the erstwhile chair.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) disclosed this through his Spokesman, Umar Gwandu.
According to Malami, “President MuhammaduBuhari has approved the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Magu as the Ag. Chairman of EFCC in order to allow for an unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel under the tribunals of the Inquiry Act and other relevant laws.
“President Buhari has also approved that the EFCC Director Operations, Mohammed Umar, should take charge and oversee the activities of the Commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation and further directives in that regard.”
