Hundred of youth in Adamawa state today break into a warehouse belonging to the state government and carted away food items worth millions of naira. The warehouse located in a suburb along Numan-Yola road called Kwananwaya in the state capital where bags of rice and other food items were looted away by the rampaging youth.
A source revealed that a viral video on social media of a woman calling for the youth to come down to the warehouse and help themselves might have been the trigger of the incident.
Although, a staff of the warehouse who spoke on condition of anonymity said the youth were faced with stiff resistance by the security guarding the warehouse.
Meanwhile, In a trending video that supports this version of the story, security operatives are seen standing between the warehouse and the youths and warning the youths to keep off.
However, The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Adamawa State, DSP Suleiman Nguroje who responded to a call as this story was being filed Sunday morning, said he was on his way to the scene.
The police officer said, “We have heard that hundreds of people have gathered and are looting foodstuff at a storage facility in Kwanarwaya.
“We have mobilized policemen and are on our way to the scene to restore peace and order,” he said.
However, another video later surfaced later around 11 o’clock showing the youth jubilations as they break the door to the warehouse and carting away some foodstuff.
