Five individuals involved in the Offa robbery incidents have been found guilty six years after by a Kwara State High Court presided over by Justice Haleemah Salman, who stated that the offences are punishable by death. The defendants are charged with conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide.
The robbery incident occurred at five banks in Offa Local Government Area in 2018, which left no fewer than 32 people dead, including nine police officers, two of whom were women while an undisclosed amount of money was stolen during the robbery.
The convicted individuals include Ayoade Akinnibosun, Azeez Salahudeen, Niyi Ogundiran, Ibikunle Ogunleye, and Adeola Abraham while a sixth suspects, a retired police officer, Michael Adikwu died in detention before the trial began.
The presiding judge sentenced the defendants to death by hanging.
