The Kaduna state-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, has insisted that if Nigeria must make headway in the fight against insecurity, the repentant criminals must be given amnesty. Gumi opined that if those who started a civil war against the country that consumed millions of people were pardoned, he sees no fault in giving similar gesture to bandit if that will bring peace at the end, saying bandits must be forgiven if the government is serious about ending the carnage.

Bulus Yakura, a pastor of Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria, EYN (Church of Brethren in Nigeria) who was abducted by Boko haram in December from Pemi village in Chibok Local Government Area has on Wednesday been released from captivity. Last week a video showing Yakura in captivity, pleading with the Federal Government and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to save him was circulated on Social media. The video also showed his abductor threatening to kill him at the end of the week if their demands were not met.

The Kaduna State Government has confirmed the killing of one ‘Rufai Maikaji’, a deadly bandit who commanded over a hundred fighters in the area. According to a statement released on Thursday by the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, Bandit Leader Maikaji, and dozens of his fighters were neutralized during air interdictions around the fringes of Malul Forest in Igabi LGA of Kaduna Central Senatorial District.

The Work-From-Home instruction by Federal Government to civil servants from GL 12 and below has been extended till the end of March. Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), made the announcement in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, NAN reports. “All public servants on GL12 and below have been directed to continue working from home till the end of March 2021. “This new directive is in adherence to the advice of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

North Eastern Governors Forum (NEGF) has called on the Federal Government to seek foreign intervention from neighboring countries to end insurgency in Nigeria. The resolution was reached in Bauchi state where they held a regional meeting to float a regional security outfit in line with the 1999 constitution and guidelines from the service Chiefs.

Former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema has called on all Nigerians to sink their differences and work together against insurgents who have continued to threaten the national peace and unity of the country. Shema made the call before inaugurating the reconstructed Chief Ferdinand Alabaraba Crescent and Opobo Crescent in GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Wednesday.
