A former member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Ningi Constituency, Abdulmumuni Ningi, who was kidnapped on Thursday, January, 15 around 8:00 pm within Bauchi metropolis, has regained his freedom. A family member, who spoke to journalists in a telephone interview, confirmed that Ningi had been released and had returned home to his family. He said the victim was released on Wednesday evening and got back home about 11 pm.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has reportedly issued a seven days ultimatum to herdsmen to immediately vacate forest reserves within the State. Akeredolu, who expressed annoyance over the nefarious activities of the herdsmen across the state on Monday, during an interactive meeting with the leadership of the Hausa/Fulani and Ebira Communities in the state, stated that his administration will not fold its arms and allow a few individuals to turn the State into a haven of dare-devil criminals. During the meeting held at the Cocoa conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka in Akure, Akeredolu, who spoke tough on the activities of the criminal elements in the state said security reports and debriefings from victims of kidnap cases pointed in one direction traceable to some bad elements masquerading as herdsmen.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has confirmed the incident that leads to the death of four police officers in Kaduna State on Friday. Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, in a statement on Sunday disclosed that the personnel were attached to Police Mobile Force – 9 Squadron, Kano. Four policemen met their untimely deaths when they engaged bandits numbering about a hundred in a gun battle along Birnin-Gwari-Funtua Highway on Friday on January 15, when the bandits attacked their convoy while they were on their way back from completion of their special duty. An officer is still missing after the incident. The statement revealed that the officers were personnel attached to Operation Puff Adder and deployed to Niger State in the sustained operation to reclaim public space and tackle incidents of banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in the area.
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai has on Sunday commended the personnel of the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole for the success in toppling Boko Haram terrorists in Marte, Borno State. In a statement, issued by Brig.-Gen. Sagir Musa, Director, Army Public Relations in Abuja. According to Musa, the terrorists were dislodged on Saturday when the troops successfully laid an ambush against them while they tried to attack the troops of Operation Tura Takaibango at the outskirts of the Marte area.
President Buhari led top government officials and members of the diplomatic corps to honor Nigeria’s fallen heroes during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day held in Abuja on Friday. The event was held at the National Arcade, opposite Eagles Square, Three Arms Zone, Abuja. Also in attendance were Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammadu and all the security chiefs. The highlight of the event was the traditional laying of wreaths in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes. The event also featured special prayer sessions for living and fallen heroes, gun salutes, a minute of silence for fallen heroes, signing of the anniversary register, etc.
