During a public hearing on Wednesday, 23rd October 2019 organized by the National Assembly joint committee on appropriation, Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior informed the committee that the Ministry has commenced working with the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to decongest Nigerian Prisons.

The Police Service Commission (PSC), has on 21st October 2019 approved the appointment of six Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) with two to proceed on pre-retirement leave. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has on Friday arrested nine suspected cyber criminals in Enugu. The suspects were on Friday arrested at Mexmemphis Properties and Apartments, Maryland District of Enugu State. According to a statement by the spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, the suspects were arrested following an intelligence report about their lifestyle and suspected criminal activities.
