The Senate has revealed plans to summon the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over the deteriorating security situation in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, that has continued unabated as bandits invade residents to abduct victims.
The Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, made this known while lamenting on the worsening security crisis that has continued to throw anxiety amongst residents in the capital city during a Channels TV program on Sunday.

According to her, when the Senate resumes plenary, the Minister would be summoned to explain his modalities to curb the security situation in the FCT that is threatening to give Nigeria a bad name in the eye of the internationals community.

Kingibe, elected under the Labour Party, LP, platform, lamented the recent surge in kidnapping, isolated killings and other criminal activities by the dreaded bandits in the nation’s capital.

She said, “It is not that I am hoping. I know he will be summoned. But whether he responds or not is a different matter entirely. But as the chief security officer of the FCT, he should have a plan.

“He should be able to tell us, the committee, and specifically me, that this is the plan for protecting the people of the FCT. Between him, the police commissioner, and the head of the DSS, they must have a plan”, the Senator added.

According to the lawmaker, there is a “disconnect” between her and the FCT Minister, where she is accusing the latter of ignoring her text messages and letters in the wake of insecurity of her constituency.
