The State House of Assembly of Oyo, Lagos and Ogun have passed the Security Network Agency Bill, 2020 tagged "Operation Amotekun" for the South-West region on Tuesday, March, 3. The bill seeks to unify the proposed law that would guide the security outfit jointly established by the South-West governors.
In Oyo state, while the bill was being passed, the lawmakers and Local hunters present at the hallowed chambers chanted victory songs and congratulated each other following third reading, and final passage bill by the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin.
In Lagos, before the passing of the bill, in an earlier arranged public hearing which was graced by stakeholders of the state, the speaker Hon. Mudashiru Obasa said Amotekun is a security outfit that had come to stay, adding that they will stand by it in line with the constitution'
The lawmakers in Ogun, while reacting to the passage of the bill believed that the Amotekun corps would be a community policing body that would complement the work of other security agencies in the state and that it would undoubtedly curb criminal activities such as kidnapping, robbery, cultism, and terrorism in the region.
