Troops of the Nigerian Arm attached to Sector 2, Operation Lafiya Dole have conquered 105 Boko Haram / ISWAP insurgents in its recent rout after an attempted attack by the insurgents in Buni Gari community of Yobe State. The operation which was led by a brigadier general, Lawrence Araba took place at the outskirts of Buni Gari village in Gujba Local Government Area Yobe state, less than 7km from the 27 Task Brigade in Buni Yadi.
It was gathered that the insurgents were planning "a heavy onslaught on the village". in Buni Yadi which also accommodates the Nigerian Army Forces School before they were decimated by the troop of Sector 2 of Operation Lafiya Dole.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai, cheered the troops for their gallantry and resilience that led to the victory of the Nigerian Army. Gen Buratai also visited two officers that were wounded in action during the encounter with the insurgents.
Araba informed Buratai that " the recent success was as a result of an intelligence report which revealed a plan by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists to attack the village". The troops recovered arms and ammunitions from the terrorist including, "five (5) AK- 47 riffles, three (3) GPMG, one (1) Duska anti-aircraft gun, one (1) PKT Gun, two (2) handheld radios, while one (1) gun truck was destroyed.
