Reports indicate that several passengers kidnapped at Eke Located in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, were rescued by a team of security operatives comprising police and local vigilantes. The chairman of the local government area, Adah Inalegwu, who confirmed this on Sunday, said security forces, upon hearing of the incident, swung into action, which led to the rescue of two of the kidnapped victims.

According to him, following the incident, youths from the community sought assistance from neighboring Kogi state intensifying the pressure on the kidnappers and forcing them to abandon the remaining eleven victims in Oando village around 4:00 on Sunday.

The chairman also credited the successful rescue to logistical support from Governor Hyacinth Alia, alongside enhanced surveillance and tracking efforts.

The rescued individuals are currently undergoing profiling before being reunited with their families.

When contacted, the Benue State Police Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said, "I don't have that information right now but will get back when I do."
