The Independent National Electoral Commission has strongly cautioned the public to disregard a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media. The electoral organization rejected the circulating advertisement, which makes the untrue allegation that INEC is actively hiring for several vacancies, in a statement published on its official X (previously Twitter) page on Wednesday.
The false advertisement asks candidates to provide their personal information on a phony website, inecrecruitment.com.
"A fraudulent advertisement that is presently making the rounds on social media has caught our attention. It claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission is hiring for various roles.
In order to finish their applications, the imposter behind this illegal recruiting campaign also requested that potential applicants visit inecrecruitment.com, another phony website. However, INEC does not have a gateway of such kind," the statement said.
INEC urged the public not to fall for the fraud and made it clear that it is not currently doing any recruiting exercises.
The public is thus urged by the commission to ignore this phony request for applications. The commission is not hiring. "Avoid becoming a victim of criminal elements' antics," the message went on.
