An earlier meet-and-greet at the Aafin Awujale has been cancelled, according to the Awujale Kingmakers Council. Instead, Awujale nominees are instructed to report to the Department of State Services office in Ijebu-Ode by 11 a.m. on Wednesday. This was stated in a formal letter dated January 20, 2026, that was sent to Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, the chairman of the Fusengbuwa royal family; Otunba Dokun Ajidagba, his deputy; and Prof. Fassy Yusuf, the vice chairman.

The letter states that all Awujale nominees must show up by 11:00 a.m. precisely at the DSS office on NTA Road, next to the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode.

The council apologized for any inconvenience the abrupt change may have caused and added that the decision resulted in the cancellation of the earlier engagement at the Aafin Awujale.

Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, the secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, signed the letter, which encouraged all nominees to maintain timeliness and adhere fully to the directive.

The development occurs in the midst of Ijebuland's ongoing customary procedures for nominations pertaining to Awujale. At the time this report was filed, more information on the DSS engagement's outcome was not available.
