The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has stated that thesis submission via the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) is now mandatory for mobilization into, or exemption from, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This was disclosed in a circular issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, which stated that the policy is effective from October 6 and is in line with provisions in Sections 2(4)(4) and 16(1)(C) of the NYSC Act.
Recall a similar mandate was issued by Akume that from October 6, all staff and recruits of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) were expected to submit their credentials in the NERD, which provides a central and verifiable repository with the view of curtailing fake degrees.
