In remembrance of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, the federal government has proclaimed Tuesday a national holiday. According to a government statement, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, revealed this. "President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with honor, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to the advancement and unity of our magnificent country." All Nigerians have the chance to consider his life, leadership, and the principles he espoused on this public holiday, the Minister stated.
The Federal Government has designated Tuesday, July 15, as a public holiday in remembrance of the late former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, in addition to the seven days of national mourning that President Bola Tinubu has announced.
He is expected to be buried in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday after his body is brought back to Nigeria. After receiving Mr. Tinubu's consent on Monday, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a ministry statement.
According to the Minister, the holiday honors the late President's national service, his contributions to Nigeria's democratic transition, and his lasting influence on national development and governance.

In keeping with his vision of a successful and united Nigeria, he called on people to use the day to honor the late President's memory by fostering peace, patriotism, and national togetherness.
As previously stated, starting on Sunday, July 13, 2025, the national flag will fly at half mast for the seven days of mourning.
The Federal Government prays for the peaceful rest of the late President's soul and offers its sincere condolences to his family, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians.
