The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has declared Thursday, 19th March, and Friday, 20th March, 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid-il-Fitr, which signifies the end of the Islamic month of Ramadan.
The announcement was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He wished the Muslim faithful a joyful Eid-il-Fitr celebration, urged Nigerians to pray for continued peace, unity, and prosperity of the country, and also encouraged responsible celebration and acts of kindness towards the less privileged in Nigeria.
The statement also stated that the FGN remains dedicated to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
