The Federal Government has received the Nominal role of about 41 universities in preparation to capture the university staff into the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS). Punch reported that the IPPIS coordinator in the office of the Accountant General office, Mr Olusegun Olufehinti was contacted where he confirmed receipt of the nominal roll.
Olufehinti disclosed that the federal government order for all workers to join IPPIS was not a joke; all federal government workers must be captured.
He noted that though some institutions due to difficult terrain in locating them are yet to be captured, however gradually it will cover all federal government workers, saying presently, the IPPIS officials have arrived most designated centres for the work.
Olufehinti explained those who hide under the union to deny themselves capturing, are doing so at their peril because only those captured would be paid at the end, more so, the government did not employ anybody under union, you are first a worker before becoming a union member.
He revealed since the commencement of the enrolment at the university environment, the turnout was very encouraging, saying despite their tactics, they are still complying with the biometric process which is the first step.
Out of the 43 federal universities, he disclosed they have received 41 nominal roll from them, describing the IPPIS as an integral part of the present administration initiative in the public finance system of accountability and transparency.
Therefore, unions were not engaged, only the individual whom were employed and the Federal Government is trying to verify the number of those employees it has across all those institutions and that is what we are interested at.
It was revealed that despite the resistance of the universities, some were observed to have complied; the University of Jos, University of Ilorin, and the University of Nsukka among others have all opted for the enrolment.
