The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has appointed a Cameroonian, Dr. George Elombi as the next President and Chairman of the Board of Directors following the end of the tenure of Professor Benedict Oramah, who was appointed in 2015.


This appointment was decided by the bank’s shareholders during the 32nd Afreximbank group annual meetings and associated events held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 25 to 28 June.

Elombi has worked with the bank since 1996, has held several key positions, and has also played pivotal roles.

He will be the fourth president of the bank since its establishment in 1993.

Afreximbank is a Pan-African multilateral financial organisation with the mission to fund and advance commerce both within and outside of Africa.
