The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bukar Dalori, has emerged as the acting National Chairman of the ruling party, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje on Friday.
Section 14(2)(iii) of the APC’s Constitution states that the Deputy National Chairman can act as the chairman, especially if both are from the same zone.
In August 2023, Dalori was appointed as the Deputy National Chairman (North), and he would remain as the acting chairman until a new chairman is chosen at the APC’s national convention.
Some analysts suggest that Ganduje’s resignation is a result of internal political reorganization ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.
