The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended seven young persons accused of cross-dressing and engaging in immoral behavior at a popular site on Zoo Road in Kano Municipal. Radio Nigeria received confirmation of the arrest from the Deputy Commander General of the board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar. He added that all the suspects are under the age of 23 and were apprehended after a good Samaritan reported suspicious activity at the scene to Hisbah. According to him, the informant reported that young males frequently gathered at the joint, and that various automobiles regularly arrived to pick them up.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects were from Kogi, Bauchi, and Kano states. Sheikh Mujahid further stated that Hisbah operatives apprehended a young man and a woman who were discovered together inside a tricycle during the operation.

In another example, a lost young lady was located in Sokoto and reunited with her parents. He stated that the board will close the establishment for allegedly housing underage adolescents engaged in immoral behavior.

“The suspects and the operators of the facility will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further action,” he said.

Sheikh Mujahid reiterated Hisbah's commitment to combating social vices in Kano, urging residents to report any suspicious activity to the board or other authorities.
