Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has requested that soldiers participating in Operation HADIN KAI stay vigilant and adopt an assertive stance during continuing operations against terrorists in the Northeast. This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for JTF Operation HADIN KAI.
During an operational assessment visit to the Joint Task Force North East headquarters, Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri, Borno State, Shaibu issued the charge.
The purpose of the tour was to enhance cooperation with security partners, assess operational effectiveness, and evaluate the security situation.
The COAS emphasised the necessity for staff to remain vigilant while acknowledging their resilience.
According to the announcement, "the COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) to sustain vigilance, avoid complacency, and maintain an aggressive posture in ongoing operations against terrorists in the North East."
Additionally, he spoke to theatre commanders about enhancing intelligence and coordination.
The statement went on, "He emphasised the need for continued operational aggressiveness to deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre."
Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Theatre Commander, gave the Army chief an update on current operations and difficulties during the visit.
Additionally, Governor Babagana Zulum praised the Army commander and said that his appointment as the 25th commander of the Army Staff was well-earned.
The governor advised soldiers not to be deterred by rare occurrences and expressed confidence in the Army's actions.
He pointed out that General Shaibu had contributed significantly to the sharp decline in insurgency in the area, having held all of the important operational command positions in the theater.
The statement partially stated, "He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the government and people of Borno State to continued collaboration with the Nigerian Military and other security stakeholders."
In response to the governor's statements, the COAS "assured the Governor that the Nigerian Army remains committed to intensifying efforts to restore enduring peace and normalcy to Borno State and the entire North East," acknowledging the state's support.
