The recent attack that claimed the lives of some northern hunters, mistaken to be criminals in Uromi, Edo State, is revolving into a disturbing situation, as an upsetting video has emerged on different social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and others by one Sheikh Sani Isa Kano calling for vengeance against Christians on April 7. The video, which has sparked concerns, contains the following transcribed messages:

"They did the first and the last and we must take revenge, we swear to revenge if they are not arrested, we will not agree and we can not be patient with this one, let them not say we didn't mention it."

"If anyone refuses to take action is cursed, because we have not become fools that will allow them stop our people and slaughter them. Their people will always call us violent, but  it is them that are violent. If they do not take swift action, God knows we will take action ourselves."

"They are not afraid of anyone. We will definitely show the Southerners  that we are not afraid."

The video and the call for violence has raised serious concerns about potential unrest.

Sheikh Sani Isa is a respected scholar of Allah’s gospel. His actions are stochastic, and he is expected to melt down the brewing crisis with his knowledge, especially in this holy month of Ramadan, by spreading the word of peace.

The Federal Government has directed security agencies and community leaders to wade into the development in order to prevent further bloodshed.
