Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, said on Thursday that 11,566 officers who had previously been assigned to Very Important Personalities (VIPs) have withdrawn in accordance with a presidential mandate. During an ongoing meeting with senior police officers in Abuja, Egbetokun disclosed this, stating that the presidential order has given him the authority to carry out the directive completely and without hindrance.
According to him, no VIP will question the recall of their security officers because the order came directly from the President. He urged cops to stay professional and devoted to national security, emphasizing the importance of 24/7 operations to combat criminal activity across the country.
The IGP further stated that the police will not back down in handling current security concerns and are collaborating closely with other security agencies to maintain national safety.
