Early on Monday morning, there were reports of a fire at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation's Abuja headquarters. A portion of the federal civil service building was affected by the fire, which alarmed both employees and guests inside the complex. As emergency personnel raced to the scene, thick smoke rose from the affected area. As of the time this article was filed, officials indicated the precise cause of the fire was still unknown. Early signs, however, point to a potential power spike within the building as the cause of the incident.
Emergency responders, including Federal Fire Service personnel, were sent to the building right away. Firefighters could be seen fighting the fire and trying to keep it from spreading to other areas of the building. Additionally, security personnel roped off sections of the property so that emergency responders could operate unhindered.
Casualties were not immediately reported. After the fire is fully contained, authorities are anticipated to perform a thorough evaluation of the damage.
