President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for a fresh five-year term.
The renewal took effect from Friday, February 27, 2026, following the expiration of his initial tenure. Audi was first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021.
Audi joined the NSCDC as a volunteer in November 1996; he served in several state commands, was promoted to the rank of Commandant of the Corps in 2007, and was deployed to the Office of the Commandant-General at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
In renewing his appointment, President Tinubu urged the CG to position the service “to play a more significant and strategic role in the country’s internal security framework.”
