Scientists have designed a smart contact lens to measure the wearer’s blood sugar level without necessarily using a needle. The new lens will also be able to monitor body temperature and cholesterol.

The lens is made out of the same transparent, flexible material that is in some soft contacts on the market.

Inside, the researchers embedded electronics including a little LED light and a glucose sensor.

Popular Nigerian comedian and United Nations Ambassador, I Go Dye has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, advising him against seeking re-election in 2019. The Comedian who recently wrote similar letter to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, requesting him to leave the stage and anoint a younger candidate for the 2019 presidential election cautioned President Buhari against seeking second term.

The Presidency has launched a weekly television and radio programme which is aimed at promoting the policies and programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration.

South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) party confirmed Monday that discussions were underway on President Jacob Zuma leaving office, but said no date for his departure had yet been agreed. The party executive “discussed this matter… there will be interaction between officials, President Zuma and (party) president (Cyril) Ramaphosa and there is no timeline,” spokesman Ace Magashule told reporters.

Mark Zukerberg’s decision to change facebook’s newfeeds did not go down to well for him. The move has cost him $3.3bn, with his personal net worth dropping by 4.4 per cent, it is believed. After Facebook went public with the news feed change on Thursday, the website’s share value dropped by nearly four per cent before US markets opened on Friday. By close of business on Friday Facebook shares were trading at $179.37, down more than 4.4 per cent on Thursday’s price of $187.77.

Falconets will on Saturday take on their South African counterparts in the first leg of the final round of African qualifying race for this year’s France 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in August. Falconets coach Chris Danjuma said that his charges, who are scheduled to travel to South Africa on Wednesday, were prepared to take the game to the South Africans in Polokwane.
