The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says Nigeria’s inaugural flight to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj will take off on May 15, 2024. This was made known by NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, in his opening remark at the first National Stakeholder Summit of Nigeria’s Hajj and Umrah Industry held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 as public holidays to mark this year's Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the FG yesterday in Abuja. The minister in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Aishetu Gogo-Ndayako congratulated all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan. He urged Muslims to imbibe and practise the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him).
President Ahmed Tinubu leaves Abuja today for Lagos today where he will be celebrating this year’s Eid-el-Fitr. This was revealed yesterday in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. “President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja, the Nation’s Capital, for Lagos on Sunday ahead of Eid-el-Fitr. “In deference to the solemn occasion, which marks the end of Ramadan, the President will observe the moment in prayers for Nigeria and with family. “The President will continue official duties during and after the Eid-el-Fitr holidays,” the statement said.

The Catholic Bishops in Nigeria in an accord junked off Pope Francis on the blessing of same-sex couples. Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji disclosed this at the formal opening of the 2024 First Plenary Assembly of the CBCN on 18th February, 2024, at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja. The gathering states that, the statements or declarations from the Holy-See should promote unity and communion on matters of doctrine, morals and liturgy, but unfortunately, Fiducia Supplicans did otherwise; but rather impairing the unity and catholicity of the Church.
