Nigerians presently in Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj have bemoaned the quality and quantity of the meals they are being served despite paying over Eight million naira (N8 Million) for the function.
This was revealed by a Facebook user, Babagana Digima, who posted a small portion of pap and three bean cake (Akara) claiming it was breakfast served to the pilgrims on Tuesday. This is coming after some catering service companies in Madinah contracted to prepare and serve Nigerian dishes to pilgrims have expressed readiness to provide sumptuous meals throughout their stay for the holy period.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says Nigeria’s inaugural flight to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj will take off on May 15, 2024. The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 as public holidays to mark this year's Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the FG yesterday in Abuja. The minister in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Aishetu Gogo-Ndayako congratulated all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan. He urged Muslims to imbibe and practise the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him).
