President Tinubu has directed the minister of livestock development Idi Mukhtar Maiha to establish ranges in Lagos and Imo state. The 2025 budget allocated N315 million for the establishment of ranches. Subsequently, it is expected that the states, such as Cross River, Adamawa, and Taraba etc, will equally have ranches, along with Kebbi state in North western state respectfully. It will reduce Agricultural devastation and boost food production.
The laudable idea by the Federal Government will curb the excesses of cattle rustling, states and local governments should endeavor to emulate the federal government.
It is expected that Nigerians who are into farm animal production should be encouraged by federal government by establishing ranches for their animals to prevent herdsmen encroaching and attacking them.
Moreover, the establishment of ranches is a good initiative so that the incessant communal clashes with the herdsmen will drastically reduce.
Hence, the modern way of rearing animals will be fully adopted, which will check the insecurity activities caused by the herdsmen attacking farmland as well as rural dwellers.
The establishment of ranches for farmland is a global practice that is expected to be embrace by all Nigerians in order to reduce crime wave being perpetrated by herdsmen.
