Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, is scheduled to step down after obtaining President Bola Tinubu's approval to pursue his goal of becoming governor of Oyo State. According to reports, the move came after the president and minister met on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Adelabu gave a thorough briefing on his management of the power industry during the previous 2.5 years. The introduction of the National Integrated Electricity Policy and its associated Strategic Implementation Plan was a major feature of the engagement, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Bolaji Tunji, his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations.
According to reports, the minister listed accomplishments under his direction, including initiatives to stabilize energy production, bolster transmission capacity, and carry out changes meant to improve efficiency and service delivery along the power sector value chain.
The minister's impending resignation was revealed in the statement. It stated, "Chief Adebayo Adelabu is expected to resign his position as Minister of Power in the coming days due to this development."
