The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has disclosed that the Port Harcourt Refinery located in Rivers State has officially commenced processing of crude oil.


This development was disclosed on Tuesday by the NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, stating that the loading of trucks would start today, Tuesday.

In a similar update on X, formerly Twitter, the NNPC said, “NNPC Ltd Delivers Port Harcourt Refinery as plant begins truckout of products today, Tuesday 26th November 2024 at 1.45 pm.

“Watch the commissioning and trucking out event LIVE.”

According to reports, the refinery would start production at 60,000 barrels capacity per day and Nigerians are hopeful that this would crash the cost of fuel in the country and also end the importation of refined crude products.
