Afrobeats star Wizkid has publicly criticised fellow Nigerian singer Burna Boy following an altercation involving Wizkid's official Disc Jockey, DJ Tunez, at a celebrity gathering in Lagos. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night at "Obi's House," a weekly celebrity event hosted by DJ Obi and known for attracting top entertainers and industry figures.
Witnesses said tensions erupted during the event DJ Tunez was handling music selection at the party. Conflicting accounts suggest the disagreement may have been triggered either by the playing of an unreleased Burna Boy track without permission or by claims that the DJ prioritised Wizkid's songs despite Burna Boy's presence.
According to eyewitness accounts and viral videos circulating online, Burna Boy approached the DJ booth to confront him, leading to a heated exchange that eventually escalated into a physical scuffle involving several individuals.
Footage from the scene showed a chaotic moment as security personnel struggled to restore order, with DJ Tunez briefly seen on the floor before being escorted away. However, there has been no official confirmation of serious injuries sustained by either party.
Reacting to the incident on Wednesday, Wizkid took to X to express anger over the alleged attack on his DJ, accusing Burna Boy of confronting him with a group.
“Pussy nigga Jump a dj with 10 man carry diddy towel Dey dance. I never see a fool like this diddy babe for my life,” Wizkid wrote.
DJ Tunez also addressed the altercation online, alleging that Burna Boy struck him from behind during the confrontation.
“YOU HIT ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITHOUT ME LOOKING! THAT'S SOME SUCKA SHIiT MY BOY!” he wrote, adding, “1 VS 10 AND I STOOD MY GROUND… THAT’S WHY YOU COLLECTED AS WELL, WHEN I DEFENDED MYSELF.”
In another viral clip circulating on social media, Burna Boy appeared to mock the incident while dancing with a white towel to the song “Money Constant,” altering the lyrics and dramatically falling to the floor in what many interpreted as a reference to DJ Tunez being seen on the ground during the scuffle.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian DJ Association condemned the incident and announced a temporary ban on Burna Boy’s music from DJ playlists nationwide, describing the episode as an “assault” and stressing that “all DJs are equal” and deserving of respect in professional spaces.
