Mr Salisu Mu’azu, an acting permanent Secretary in Jigawa state Ministry of Health has confirmed this morning to Premium Times that another medical Doctor has been confirmed to have contracted Lassa fever in Jahun Local Government of the state. The Victim identified as, Anthony Etim, a staff of the Medicins Sans Frontieres also referred to as ‘Doctors without Borders’ has now being isolated in one of the treatment unit centre in Jahun Local Government of Jigawa state.

The Nigeria Immigration Service and Port Health Services have expressed fears over the outbreak of Coronavirus in China. The Punch reports that the deadly disease, which broke out in the Asian nation sometime last month, has spread to eight countries including United States and Singapore, with over 800 people infected and 30 killed in the past few weeks.

Officials of Kano state government on Wednesday, 22nd January 2020 confirmed the death of 3 persons caused by the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, confirmed this at a press briefing on the recent reported Lassa fever outbreak in Kano state.
